A while back, I saw a show where Clarissa Dickson-Wright used recipes from the oldest cookbook (in England or in existence, I can't remember). It was Henry II's cookbook and she made several dinners for historians, food critics and friends and they rated the food according to their modern sensibilities and discussed the historiocity (I know, not a word) of each dish.
