given the number of 2D animation fans on my flist, i'm sure that most of you have seen this. but in case you haven't,  have a look at the 2009 line-up of student short films from the incredible Gobelins L'Ecole de L'Image.  i love them all, but the first one struck me as particularly brilliant... perfect buildup, and i actually gasped at the end ( Read more... )

These are AMAZING! I adore 2D animation, and to see it be so beautiful and fluidly done makes me so happy. ;_; (2D is NOT dead, thank you very much ;A; )

I really like the first and third one-- I love Norse Mythology. <3

Is this school based out of France?

2D will NEVER BE DEAD T____T it just can't be! it breaks my heart whenever a beautiful animated film doesn't make it in the box office, sure, but i think that a small number of talented people in the world will always keep the medium alive and kicking~ ;)

And yep, it's a world renowned school based in Paris~

Man, I totally agree T___T I miss watching 2D movies in theaters-- I mean, yes, there are some really amazing 3D animated movies that have come out, but damn do I miss some good ol' Disney, Don Bluth, or just ANYTHING like those kinda movies again in theaters.

I thought the style was European XD but I'm in Canada, so part of me wondering if it wasn't some super secret awesome school in Quebec or something.

I've watched Kiwi countless times (it actually made me cry the first time), but the other two I haven't seen before... but HOLY SHIT, "the happiest monster" terrified me beyond words @____@ really amazing, though!
