Second fic request out of five done. This one is written for laorion from the Godric/Eric community, who requested homesick!Godric. Unfortunately I had to tweak this prompt a little bit to fit Godric's canon characterization more, but I hope ( Read more... )

Oh no I meant in the FictionAlley Park forums - sorry to disappoint, unfortunately I barely wrote much H/D myself! I was an avid reader though *grins*.

THANK YOU!!! This is perfect! Thank you so much for writing it, i love it, you captured their voices amazingly, especially Godric's. I'm kinda fascinated by his past, before and with Eric, and the show never really gave us much of anything, so i troll lj trying to fill in the gaps ;)

Hehe, thank you for prompting it - and for your feedback! I'm really relieved that you like it!!

Oh yes, most definitely :) I think the fact that the show doesn't give us as much of Godric as we want can be used to our advantage since we're the ones who can fill in all those gaps through fanfiction. An exercise in creativity! And yes, their past is always worth exploring, since it explains so much in terms of what Eric has become ♥

This is beautiful. I'm always intrigued by stories that touch on the burden of immortality. Long life is a great gift, but the weight of time and of all the inevitable change is bound to be immense. How would you anchor yourself? And if your anchor was a person, what would it be like to lose them? There was so much in this relationship that the show failed to explore...

Thank you! And yes, that's spot on, exactly what I wanted to touch upon when I wrote this. It's really interesting because at the end, Godric is portrayed on the show as utterly exhausted, in contrast with Eric who still loves life. And it's also interesting that throughout all those years, even after not seeing each other for decades, the relationship between them always remains so obviously strong.

I actually like that there are gaps in our knowledge where these two are concerned - we can let our imaginations run wild, as well as make up for it in fanfiction! ;)

Love it! So beautiful, and that last line is just so sad when you know what Godric's fate is.

Thank you again, it's such a relief to hear that you like it! And yes, that was deliberate angsting on my part ... I felt that Eric couldn't have known at that stage that he was going to be separated from Godric for decades, and that Godric would meet the sun pretty much immediately after their reunion. Their story together is so tragic. Anything can be turned into a last moment really.

I so wish Godric could come back somehow in the show and not just daydreams or flashbacks...

That would be really awesome. Actually, with the presence of witches and necromancy in the 4th season, I sort of had my fingers crossed for them to bring Godric back ... even though I knew it wasn't going to happen XD

I'm not unhappy with the daydreams and flashbacks though - so far it shows how much Eric's still grieving over Godric (which is great, because it's even more proof of how much he loved him), and it also makes the tragedy of Godric's death absolutely real and not cheap. I'm glad at least that Godric is still making appearances and that the writers didn't choose to leave the character in the dust! :)
