Things have gotten interesting.

Some major things have gone on in the last few months, so here's a bit of it.

In relationship news, some of you are aware that Kurt and I have hit a bit of a wall. While we still love each other, we've stumbled upon a difference for which there is no compromise. He has changed his mind about parenthood and decided that he doesn't want kids.

I have ALWAYS wanted kids. In fact, the reason that I went into child and adolescent studies was primarily in order to someday be a better parent. We were supposed to start trying for a family in September... instead, we had a difficult conversation the month before. Since then I've been trying to imagine not having kids, he's been trying to imagine enjoying having kids. Now it's been a few months, I want kids more than ever, Kurt wants them less than ever.

We're not on any precise schedule, and as "divorce" sounds so much more harsh than the situation warrants, we prefer to think of it as "going back to just being friends". We're not in a huge rush, there are a lot of loose ends to tie up, and we're still best friends, so it's not like we have a problem living together and helping each other get ready for the separation. Since my computer died we've been sharing his, so I'll need to get my own. We sold his car when we moved and have been sharing mine, so he'll need one of his own. He may stay here in Oregon regardless of whether or not I move south, or vice versa. I'm personally hoping that we end up in the same place, 'cause we're still incredibly close, but I know that his goal is still to open a comic book store and he really prefers the weather up here. I prefer Oregon, too, truth be told, but a lot of things are up in the air right now.

We've been going over and over this since August, and while it wasn't an easy decision to make, we feel confident that it's the only way for both of us to do what we want in life.

Assuming that no major things happen to change the current situation, this is where we stand. Under the circumstances, I felt like using this particular userpic one last time.
