As a department head I spend my days at work running about putting out fires between teaching my own classes.

I've just realised that the majourity of my stress comes from the fact that I'd much rather be the one starting them.

Do it!

Take a random vacation on a Friday afternoon, you can walk out the door and cheerfully wave, while calling back "See you in two weeks!" even though it's only Week 5 in the term.
