I realised I LOVE my choice of a career - messy, hard and sometimes heartbreaking job that it is. I mean, there's really nothing I can think of that could compare to the joy of being offered a paw, a generous lick and a eager-to-please display of tail wagging affection by a dog you've helped get better

It is a wonderful, epiphanous moment. In the middle of all the whines and wails and grumbles and grouches. I can relate.
