The day after Blues' brief text exchange with Enzan was Blues' day off. Enzan would be coming over that morning, too. The surprise would be that Blues would not be in his PET or any other computer or machine. The last time Blues had spoken to Enzan had been before he had regained his humanity. Blues was rather looking forward to informing Enzan ( Read more... )

Dealing with Tim, Project Cadmus, and what they'd found there hadn't exactly been easy. At least he still had his healing ability; he wasn't even sore the next day.

Which made it a perfect day to visit Blues. He knocked, half-wondering who was going to answer the door.

Ah. The knock on the door brought a smile to Blues' lips. That would be Enzan, which meant it was time to show him the surprise.

Blues went to open the door.

"Hello, Enzan-sama."

Enzan greeted him with a hug. That's what Blueses were for, after all, hugging. Then, a few seconds later, he pulled away, looking shocked.

"Blues, you're..."

If anything, Blues' smile only grew wider. "I did tell you I had good news," he said, pulling Enzan into the apartment. "This is it. My Enzan and I discovered the reason I lost my humanity, and Dr. Hikari figured out how to restore it."

"I don't think he'll do it again," Enzan said, a stubborn tone creeping into his voice. "Besides, everyone - everyone needs someone to believe in them, even if it's just one person. It... helps, in the long run."

"That does not necessarily mean that it has to be you who believes in him," Blues said mildly. "But if you wish to remain friends with him, I am not going to stop you. I very likely do not even know the man, and so have no opinion about him. I am merely giving you some things to think about to help you answer your own question. In the end, your answer is the only one that matters."

With a smile, Blues let Enzan go and stood up. "Come. Let us get something to eat."

"Kid. Not a man," he muttered. Blues letting go startled him into dropping the thought altogether. "Oh. Okay."

Blues heard the muttered words and chuckled. "Kid, then. See? I know only what you tell me of him." And with that, he led Enzan to the kitchen to get something to eat.

"Don't look so worried." That was to Enzan. He offered a smile with it.

Enzan double checked everything to make sure it was all cooked fully. Once he was sure, he started serving up the food. It smelled good and looked good to him. They would soon find out if it tasted good as well.

"What does everyone want to drink?"

"I think I would like apple juice," Blues said as he sat down in his seat. With murmured thanks for the food, he boldly took the first bite. He chewed the noodles for a moment then swallowed before pronouncing judgment on the food.

"I think it turned out quite well!"

"Water's fine," Enzan said absent-mindedly, studying Blues' expression. "You could be just saying that. He could be just saying that."

That repeated sentence was said to his alternate, who he figured would understand the nature of Blues' and their biased opinion toward Enzans.

"True. There is the saying or something about too many chefs in the kitchen, isn't there?"

Enzan got two waters and a juice to set down in front of everyone before Enzan took his seat.

A sip of his water, Enzan was ready to try it himself. He chewed it slowly to think over the taste and finally nodded with a smile.

"I think it came out fine."
