I don't like being added randomly by new people... If you want to read my lj, why don't you try to get in touch with me via some other form of communication that I might be able to better understand who you are, whether I know you, and whether I feel that there's any reason for you to be adding me

Or I could be more paranoid than you. All I know is that I have for some reason been added to this list and there are no entries in it yet.

In all honesty... random people adding you to their LJ friends list is simply something that happens when you're LJ is public. (Don't forget, in public mode you are actually posting it on the internet for everybody to see). I'm actually quite surprised by the fact I seem to be the only person that has had several people randomly friend her... one person in particular, appeared to do it to every name they could find, simply so people would read their writings.
But yeah... I don't think you need to stress out about it... for one thing, at least them friended you lets you know that they exist... after all, they don't have to have you listed as a friend to read your LJ... so, really, don't stress out over it... if it really bothers you that bad, just make your LJ friends only... after all, I'd say it's a good bet this is one of those reasons the feature exists.

All in all, I figure this person is just lonely and wants to have a connection to people they know or people who know those people and probably cannot make friends of their own. I know in the past I have gotten bored and looked over friends pages of my friends to just check on people or look for quizzes.
However, IMHO, no matter how you try to look at it, lying about who you are and sneakily adding people to your friends list is just plain creepy, but also ignorable.
