Lawn is mowed. Mower is busted, seems one of the blades had a bit of metal fatigue and snapped more or less in half. Must check the remaining blade (it's a riding mower), then see what the service plan covers. I mean, it's apparent that I've hit at least one rock with that blade, hopefully that won't preclude a covered repair. If so, I guess I' ( Read more... )

Blades tend to be inexpensive to replace. Balancing them can be an art, but I'll bet you can do it.

Actually, the trip to the tractor shop was worth it. I also lost...a piece that helps to balance the deck. It has a specialized bolt - with a gear attached - that had worked itself out. I'm wondering if that bolt coming out isn't what took a bite out of/snapped the blade. Thomas the Lawnmower Man came out to look at it, ended up taking it to a repair shop. This particular balancing-thing design wasn't familiar to him, and it's still under warranty, so I lucked out.
