Headcanon notes.
Just notes for whenever I decide to actually compile all this into one post?
- Ep180, Gintoki calls himself a coward in reference to his leaving the Amanto war. Work that into half scared to death of losing more allies, half scared shitless of seeing how far Takasugi will fall. SO HE JUST GETS THE FUCK OUT OF THERE. Will work more on this.
- Gintoki didn't join the war to kick the Amanto out. He doesn't give any shits about what they do in his country. He joined to ensure he wouldn't lose too many. Doesn't matter, thousands still died.
- He doesn't blame himself, but he feels stupid for thinking he could have protected everybody. Thus he protects only what's in front of him. "If something has fallen at my feet, then the least I can do is pick it up."
- He's not interested in serious relationships or marriage. He'll live and die as a samurai. And when he's finally sick of all that, maybe he'll settle down, if anybody will have him lol. BUT THEN DEATH CITY HAPPENS AND HI TSUKUYO. HIIIII
- His relationship with SC!Takasugi is... mostly to ease his own guilt for abandoning him all those years ago. Death City's given them a second chance, and he'll fucking take it.
- When it comes right down to it, yes, Katsura IS Gintoki's best friend.
- Katsura, Takasugi and Gintoki were inseperable as kids. Having grown up mostly alone and isolated from society, he couldn't grasp language very well. After being adopted by Shouyou-sensei, he picked it up. His first words were "Shut up, Zura."
- Benizakura Arc, Katsura says Gintoki should be hating the world the most for taking Shouyou away? IDK. GIVE US MORE TO WORK WITH SORACHI. THE SCHOOL KINDA MAYBE BEING BURNED DOWN ISN'T ENOUGH.
