Lt. Dan Choi has been discharged on account of being a homoLt. Choi is wonderful in person and devoted to service of the United States and the ideals of our constitution. His prowess in Arabic translation is entirely the DoD's loss. Choi has given his West Point ring to Harry Reid, whom he had charged with defending his right to serve actively. ( Read more... )

I would think that most folks have enough problems with their own faults and failings that they wouldn't have time to bother about what someone else is doing!

And furthermore, I will never understand why my marriage threatens anyone else's. Their marriage doesn't threaten mine, unless they actively work to deny it.

I'm thinking there are poor or suffering people who could use some of that preacher's time, rather than him increasing the net suffering by threatening gay people. One wonders at what could be accomplished if people opposing (admittedly big) changes in social norms applied themselves positively to pervasive problems like poverty with the same energy. They'd certainly get more of my respect.

FWIW, I think more marriages are threatened by closeting and the practice of marrying to divert suspicion of homosexuality than by acceptance and openness. The silliness of it was pointed out by a rapper I like in his song I Heart Fags a few years ago. (link is to lyrics but an mp3 of it is at the bottom of that page)
