DVD Recommendations?

Oct 26, 2004 12:42

I got an online DVD rental free trial that lasts a month. Last night, I found $50 I forgot that I had so I figure I can do this for a couple months and it's like losing no money. If it's any good, I'll continue with this one. If not, I'll try another free trial with a different company ( Read more... )

I'm doing the same thing, sharing the fee with my brother and watching them when we meet up on weekends.

There are a lot of similar schemes going (in the UK anyway), first off do the free trials for all of them, one by one, then go back to the one you were most impressed with. You could probably get a half year's worth free.

Here's a selection of stuff I went through:

  • Michael Collins
  • Shaun of the Dead (if you haven't seen it already!)
  • Ran (Drama by Akira Kurosawa based on King Lear)
  • The Tuxedo
  • Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai

Thanks! I looked into all of them, and "Ran" sounds the most interesting of the group to me right now. :)

I was surprised to find that one on the list of DVDs available to rent. There's actually a shocking amount of Pokemon DVDs available -- over 40! :o

Thanks! I forgot about Sixth Sense -- I haven't seen that yet, and I've been told by many people that I really must. :)

I love renting TV shows, and you can't rent many of them from places like Blockbuster -- only the major popular ones.

I've already seen all of Sex and the City (such a good show, too) and I've seen part of the first season of Six Feet Under, but couldn't seem to get into it.

I've also seen Great Expectations, and would have enjoyed it but couldn't get past the fact that it's not true to the actual book. That always bothers me when I've read the book before seeing a movie based on one.
