I called her several days before I went on vacation and left a message saying that I'd be "free" for the whole next week, etc., and that she should let me know when we could hang out. Not a peep. Not a word. Her sister on the West Coast was due w/her first, so I figured, well

Yeah. Everbody is self absorbed in this world, but some people moreso than others. Sorta like some people make lousy friends and should just be left to languish in their self absorption. That way you can put the effort that went into their friendship blackhole into something more worthwhile.

(Not that I haven't forgotten birthdays or been self-absorbed. I'm just saying that sometimes "good riddance" is the best way to not be annoyed by selfish "friends".)

I'm sorry that this made me laugh (especially since I forgot it this year, too), but I was cracking up at the dialogue exchange between the two of you. I can totally hear her voice in my head. I had to work? Yeah... I probably would have snapped at her. *hugs*
