what is with delivery men, contractors and repair men?

Have been spending the past couple of days dealing with delivery men, contractors and repair men. Delivery for closets from Ikea for my bedroom as I had none. Curtain contractor to come to my flat to do measurements so they can install custom made curtains next week. Cable TV repairman to replace my remote control because it suddenly keeled on me

Over here it's usually the other way around : they say they'll pass between say, 10 am and 4 am, and turn out at half past 4...

Sometimes they do that, too. It seems to on the days when I have a day off and ask them to come in the morning.
