I put in my DVDs last night. I happened to open Batman Begins first, so after some arguing with the DVD due to scratches, it started.

I can't believe it's possible to be bored by Batman Begins.

It's possible. I wouldn't say it bored me, but I thought it was vastly overrated. I was thrilled with the casting (Neeson, Caine, and Morgan Freeman are all personal favorites) and right in the middle of a huge obsession with comic books when I watched it.

But in the final analysis... not so impressed. Granted, I'm a Marvel Comics guy and Batman is DC, so maybe I was feeling some geek rivalry or something, but I honestly don't think I was being my contrarian self. It just left me cold.

Maybe Batman's too grim for me. I need my snappy dialogue. ;-)

Yeah, it's definitely not an uplifting movie.

I hope you at least liked Iron Man! :p

Haven't actually gotten to see Iron Man yet. I've been spending all my money on Wii stuff instead of going to the theaters. ;-) But I plan to see it, and have high hopes for it...

Another fandom I'm thinking of delving into with the help of the used book store is the DS9 novels. I was never a very good Trekkie, but I enjoyed that show, and some of the novels I *have* read are pretty good. Fallen Heros was downright fantastic, actually.

OMG!!! Someone else that's actually read it! And liked it!

I thought it was only me...

Read "The Final Reflection", if you can get it. Not DS9, but it's so good it hurts anyway.

I've never seen an author nail down the characters of for a tie-in novel so well as that guy did. I haven't read it in ages, but I remember just loving the stuff with Kira and O'Brien's stories in particular.

And it wasn't afraid to be dark, which shouldn't be such a surprise for DS9 stuff, but somehow is.

I'm sure I could google it, but what is "The Final Reflection" part of?

Arguably the finest Trek novel ever written :)

Set pre-TOS, but long before Enterprise was even thought of, so it's good. 3-dimensional Klingons.

KRAD thinks it's great too.

Trust me, most of us have read and loved "Fallen Heroes". ;)
