She seems more confident if that can be said, but if you look at her closely you can tell that she's not happy at all. Living in the same house for ten years, with no magic, has taken its toll.]Well, then. I suppose I'm going to have to fix this turkey properly, if ( Read more... )

[She releases one last arrow- it hits the tree/target dead center- before stopping to look at Lemony.]

Averagely well, I think. I may need to move a bit away, it's getting too easy to shoot from here.

[She smiles.] What are you doing today, Mr. Snicket?

Just out for a walk. I thought I might hand out my presents a head of time as well.

[Hands her a package, that looks like a book surprise, surprise]

Oh! Mr. Snicket, you're so kind. [She places her bow on the ground before taking the book-shaped package. She opens it and smiles.]

You know I love reading...do you want your present, as well? It's in the house.

[Daine sounds quite confused, but still standing after all that.] Well, I've never been the best at cooking. We'll see how it goes.

Thank you, though. I'm lost with this turkey business.

[There's a white owl in the tree.]

What did this tree ever do to you?

[She looks up at the owl, and lowers her bow, taking the arrow off of the string.]

Nothing. It was just a good practice target. Do you find this tree particularly exciting, then?

Not particularly. Using the drones for target practice - now that would be exciting.

I did that once, it was fair fun...until the town found out, of course, that I'd shot my husband.

Still, you'd be welcome to try.

You have to marinate it every so often. Otherwise it catches fire and the drones never let you live it down.

Marinating? Like letting it sit?

With my luck, this whole gods-blasted bird's going to catch fire.

Er, no. You have to pull it out, and put the juice back on it. The... stuff that comes out while it's cooking.

One of these days you's gonna have to teach me how to shoot that thin'.

I will, if you promise not to get yourself brainwashed by shooting someone.
