a reader's indulgence [essay]

Whilst I loved Debates in Literature lectures, writing the required essay was harder than I expected. Hence the shortness of it, I expect; nonetheless, I did honestly enjoy researching and learning about the relationship between text and author, and the readers.

Are you talking about Barthes' 'Death of the Author' theory here too? I love that theory and I love what you're saying here too. Haven't read any of your sources I don't think, but if I get a chance I might look them up. You're making me want to get my much-buried lit geek on again! ;)

Late reply, but I loooved getting your comment in my inbox. :) Yes, I am also linking back to Barthes, but we had to choose a theory and stick to that one. I chose not to side with readers or authors but with both. ^^

You're making me want to get my much-buried lit geek on again! ;)
