About two weeks ago I bought a box (1kg) of purple potatoes, because they're cool, and cooked some really pretty things with them.

The color of purple potatoes is an anthocyanin, just like in purple cabbage. That means that it is water soluble, so boiling will leach it out. It also means that it reacts as an acid-base indicator. From it's natural ( Read more... )

in the Supersal chainstore. there is the one in Nayot, where if found my potatoes this time around. two years ago I found them in talpiot, infront of the Hadar mall, also in Supersal.
they come in relativly small plastic boxes. the potatoes themselves are the size of new potatoes, but longer and almost black.
