Gale Harold was deliciously menacing. I loved every scene with him. I'm definitely giving the series a 4 episode trial for his sake.

Seconded so hard.

I read some interview where Kevin basically said that they hired him because Brian Kinney is amazing. I SUPPORT THIS REASONING WHOLE HEARTEDLY.

Seriously, Gale took on the role with relish and it elevated the pilot for me. I hope they give him tons of screen time.

I'm watching for Gale and Thomas (and I'll be very happy to ship them too). I wasn't expecting anything, because it's the CW, so it's okay as a pilot.

I read that the decision for cutting down the covenant to 6 was both financial (it's expensive to have 12 regular kids, plus the adults) an also because they felt it was too much to juggle that many people. We'll see. Again, I have no expectation, so it can't disappoint me.

I wonder if we'll actually get some slash written, in honor of Gale's participation. (there's almost none for TVD)

Deborah and the Henderson twins, my soul cries out for you! Motorcycles and pipe bombs, who thought they wouldn't enhance the show? But my heart was pledged to LJ Smith young, and the Vampire Diaries really paid off for me: I expect I shall watch this as long as it lasts.

HOW COULD YOU SAY NO TO PIPE BOMBS INDEED.

My heart too was pledged to LJ Smith young. I just hope that Secret Circle is successful so that we can get some Dark Visions up in here. (I'm actually surprised that they went with SC instead. Hasn't it been made apparent from the avalanche of Damon/Elena shippers that the key pairing in DV would sell really well? I think it was her only series where Smith didn't just tease the reader but the girl actually chose the guy who wasn't bland wallpaper.)

Are we supposed to feel tension in that whole Cassie/Adam/Diana thing, then? Because Adam was clearly crushing hard on Cassie pretty much the first second he saw her. The honorable thing to do would be to break up with Diana, who he just seems vaguely affectionate toward - are they supposed to be deeply in love? So didn't get that, huh.

Gale was fantastic, and I really like Adam so far.

I thought that Faye and Diana had chemistry, actually. I would totally ship them. Especially if they cling to each other in the rain some more.

aha! You'd THINK THAT. But (at least in the books) noooo, they have to draw it out & make it the series pivot. Irregardless of whether or not Adam and Diana are passionately in love with each other in a sexy way, he's Diana's boyfriend! So clearly he can't just... break up with his high school girlfriend because he loves someone else. THAT WOULD BE CRAZY.

I think my lingering distaste for Diana from the book series clouded my judgment on this matter. If they make her more interesting then I could totally get behind some (wet) ( ... )

...okay, then. That's... that's just people making their lives harder for themselves. Silly people. Goodness. Doesn't Diana deserve to be loved, rather than just stayed with out of obligation and habit?

Diana was definitely her most interesting when she was with Faye.

Seriously! People just making things hard for themselves!

Here's a quote from an interview with the guy who plays Adam.
On the choice between Diana and Cassie: "Diana's the relationship he's had for years, so his loyalty lies there, but this impossible, visceral attraction lies with Cassie. It's a big inner struggle for my character, it's one of the biggest in the series, grappling with which way he's going to go."

ONE OF THE BIGGEST IN THE SERIES. hahaha, this fucking triangle. *facepalm* I think I'm just going to enjoy the silliness!

I've never read the books so it was interesting to hear about Diana's characterization. I actually got a bad vibe off her in the premiere...like she was more of a two-faced 'nice' girl than a truly good, heart of gold kind of gal so it'll be interesting to see if I feel differently as the show progresses.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised by the ep. It was much, much better than I thought it'd be and I'm definitely looking forward to more Gale on my screen.

Yeah, she didn't feel all that sincere to me, either.

At least in terms of basic book characterization, she was "2-faced" but in the way that she was sweet & compassionate but then she had these moments where she'd lay down the law. Like, gentle & caring but firm when necessary. A balancing force against Faye's chaos.

But who knows what they're going to do with her in the series. Maybe they'll twist her all around. I'd loooove her to be Secretly Evil.
