Yeah, I had a bit of rant too here. It felt like this episode was missing SO MUCH character narrative flow, and I just ... yeah, the whiplash with Damon was the worst. I was disappointed.

huh, I totally bought the damon/alaric here - Damon doesn't underestimate Alaric, and he checked for the ring before what, to him, is essentially knocking Alaric unconscious, and Damon to me was teetering on the edge of a breakdown over Stefan and Elena, being so close and wanting to be good, and snapping back sharply into hating and blaming himself. Even his attack on Caroline's father was ambiguous - was he going to kill him?

Alaric recognizes Damon as a threat and an ally, and his position with the council is not anti-vampire, but pro-human, protecting Elena and Jeremy, not attacking Damon - which of everyone on TVD, Alaric is the only one sane enough to actually be a real threat/partner. I think their friendship has very clear lines they both acknowledge and respect like Elena coming first.

I agree so much with the Stefan/Klaus/Rebekah. I love Stefan/Klaus/Rebekah too. I love that Stefan tried to trick her. I love that she figured it out. I love that instead of torturing/compelling Stefan to give him an answer he dragged himself and his baggage all the way to Mystic Falls. And I love that Klaus looks HAPPY when Stefan is rude to him, aw he's glad Stefan is comfortable enough to behave that way. Stefan don't be mean to Klaus he loves you... oh wait that's not right... Klaus is supposed to be the bad guy... this show is screwing with my head :D ( ... )

It's possible I said out loud, "Well, that's one way to break up with your boyfriend."
