Why I Don't Like Sarah Palin

So let's talk a little bit about Obama and Palin. You might like Palin, and that's fine. I don't. Here's why:

Some people think her being a mom counts for something as the VP candidate. How does her being a mom count any more than Obama or McCain who are both parents? Congratulations, you popped some kids out. Being a parent doesn't make you a ( Read more... )

I agree with you, for the reasons you stated and more. She claims to be "middle class", while her assets total over a million dollars. She is a religious fanatic. She believes the earth is 6000 years old, and that dinosaurs walked the earth with humans. (And I don't mean crocodiles! lol) She believes the Apocalypse is literal, and will happen in our lifetime. This is the same person who may have to deal with North Korea, Pakistan, Iran, and Russia. The same person who may have her finger on "The Button".

Frankly, I'm a little worried that Obama will be able to carry out half his promises, but that's far better than worrying that McCain & Co. _will_ carry out half of theirs. And I like Biden. Actually I'd rather see Biden as president than Obama, but I think Obama is smart enough to use Biden's experience to create an effective team.

Thanks for all the references by the way - you did a much better job than me :)

Quick nitpick, as of first quarter 2007, there were a surprising number of "middle-class millionaires" around, families whose total assets--like Palin's--total over a million. But no, you're right, she's crazy.

I plan on having a really nice retirement fund and whatnot, but I think it's the ability to understand middle class - people who choose between the car payment and feeding the kids on a bad month with the economy going down the tubes for them - that's important. And I don't see her in touch with any of that.

Also, she says "Betcha'." "You Betcha'." Makes her sound like fuckin' Fargo. I hated that movie.

You're welcome to link it to her or repost, or whatever you want - if you repost you can tell them I wrote it so they can come over and argue with me. ;) I know how hard it is sometimes to articulate your feelings in a response that doesn't take an hour to write. This took me quite awhile to link, so I understand.

I just happened upon your journal, and I don't want to be a pest or anything, but if a fetus died in utero technically having it removed isn't an abortion, just a D & C, because the pregnancy was already terminated.

But also I wanted to say that I appreciated your post very much because you made some excellent points about Palin, particularly about her statement about Biden, and about her down's syndrome baby. I definitely do wonder how she plans to be involved in that child's life the way she should be for the next 4-8 years if she's wrapped up in being VP of the country. O.o

In the state of Kansas (under the rule of Attorney General Phil Kline) doctors were unwilling/unable to remove stillborn children from their mothers' bodies for a few years. A friend of mine was so refused... it was a pretty much FUBAR situation. The thought of Kline-esque policies being implimented on a national level are terrifying.
