Not long after the Brandywine family returned from their vacation to the Far East land of Takemizu Village, twins Barrett and Byron aged up into teens. The household became busier than ever, as the two began bringing home friends from school.
Soon, though, the family would lose an old friend, too.
Like his brother Berke before him, Byron was thrilled to turn into a teenager, showing off his new physique in the recently-added second-floor guest room, where he liked to sleep sometimes. I guess even twins occasionally want some space from each other.
Barrett, as a teenager, was a good-looking, if more reserved young man, with his mother's nose and his dad's cheeks and chin. You'll notice in this image that the high chairs still sit in the little dining room, as his parents hadn't yet let the truth sink in about their growing boys.
Both boys soon got part-time jobs, meaning they had to buckle down and do their homework as soon as they returned from school. They were still in the habit of working in their brother's room, which is closer to the front of the house and had been the original master bedroom.
Now that her boys were more independent, Aurora could take more time for herself, such as visiting the Music & Dance secret lot to dance and socialize.
The twins, like their parents, enjoyed Sports as a hobby, tossing a football around whenever they had a little free time. Here's Byron in his 1970's-inspired colorful shirt, a fall look in keeping with his surfer style.
It was bound to happen sometime. The oldest dog in the family, Susie, the mother of three puppies, got a visit from the Grim Reaper. Where else? In the bathroom, of course. She is, after all, Aurora's dog.
The rest of the family's dogs howled in dismay in the bathroom, but the human Sims hardly seemed to notice. They'd been so busy playing and training the puppies that nobody's relationship with Susie was terribly close when she chased that dog bone to the sky.
The next day, Byron officially became an overachiever, reaching the top of the part-time Music field.
A short time later, Aurora invited over some college friends, and one of them had a ghostly encounter with the dear departed doggie... in the half-bath. Here are two shots, with walls and without, because the room is too small to get the angle I wanted with the walls up.
Then the ghost dog went into the yard to dig ghostly holes (which actually did not remain the next morning). Funny. She was always such a good doggie when she was alive. I guess this is what happens when you move a dog's grave outside, instead of just keeping an urn in the house. Or maybe she's just mad that none of the human Sims were terribly sad when she died.
Of course, her departure meant the family had extra room to adopt a new puppy, who would be necessary for Aurora to reach her lifetime goal of getting six pets to reach the top of their career ladders. Barrett greeted the puppy, Leroy, and it was love at first sight. I have a feeling that Barrett will also want to have dogs when he has his own household someday. Maybe he'll be willing to adopt a pet or two from the legacy household when his brother, the heir, starts his own family in the house. I bet one of them will be Leroy.
