When the first thing you have to sign for a class is a 27 point contract, you know you're in trouble ( Read more... )

Oh how frightening! I don't know how you have time for anything. Wow... Everything you have to do... I'm sure you will get that job some day once you graduate.

Both things were frightening. Both my daughter breaking her foot (I still can't believe she broke it in our own living room!) and the..when I saw that I was late, my blood ran cold. You know that phrase? I now know what that feels like. I..it's..all I wanted to do this weekend was make my daughter happy and distracted from her foot and relax with my kids. But no, work, work, work!

I am no hero. Many people are single parents and are both in school and working full time. I am no hero.

But I really, really hope someone will hire me in the end. I'm old and it's taken more than 4 years for me to finish college.

But hopefully, someone will take the chance and hire me.

When is your semester over? My last paper/final is December 12th. I cannot wait. I have so much to catch up on at home once I finish this semester and I need to get ready for Christmas.

Maybe not a hero... But you are rather inspiring. I can't imagine having one kid, let alone three, and I barely have time for all my schoolwork as it is. Wow!

December 12! I'm jealous! Dec 12 is just the beginning of finals week. Next week will be finals week. I will work and work like crazy these next couple weeks.

I can't imagine how you get through finals week. Generally, if it's a bad finals week, I never clean, don't eat good meals, and don't sleep much either. I make sure my dog is taken care of, but I sort of forget about taking care of myself. The work eneds to get done, the cramming and papers and everything. But you can't just forget about your kids for a week... It must be very interesting around your house during finals.

Did they let you make it up?

Are you still in college then? Or getting a Masters or?

I've been so careful and this was worth so much. I couldn't believe I messed up am and PM. I logged in so excited I finished 3 hours early only to find out I was 9 hours late.

I'm still stressed. I have an exam this Weds afternoon (2 days) which is worth 1/3 of my total grade in that class.

I have an exam in this class (ED 305) that I need to do online on Dec 10th.

And I have a final paper due in another class on Dec 12th. A time consuming research one. Ugh.

And then (if I could) I would sleep for a couple days. Only actually, I need to catch up on so much around the house first!

My daughter is being a trooper most of the time but it really cramps her style. She's usually outside and climbing and running and now she has to be careful.

Thanks so much for your kind words. Do you think this fit the prompt? It seemed to to me. I just hope it worked.

So glad there was a happy ending! And as an ex-professor, your professor should answer his damn emails :)

Get well soon to your daughter, and graduate soon to you - you warm my heart to hear how much you care about school and improving your family's life.

Writing-wise - the sentence where you talk about "two cars that work well and have good tail lights" is particularly powerful - it's the daily details that really count.

It has annoyed me all semester. Most professor are rather bad about email but, if you see them in person, you can reask something. This was an online class so it really would have been nice to get answers when I needed them. Oh well.

It's the little things. I really do want two cars that work (one for me, one for my husband.) They don't have to be fancy. It's just hard sometimes. One was in a wreck and is unreliable but that is what we have for now.

I graduate Spring of 2013. Seems so far away sometimes but at least it is finally getting closer. Of course, it depends on things like being accepted into the Teacher Ed program on time and passing my Praxis and MAKING SURE TO TURN ASSIGNMENTS IN ON TIME.

The little things. I need to remember the little things!

Why did you quit being a professor? Do you like your current job better?

YOU CAN DO IT! YOU CAN MAKE IT! :)

I was a sabbatical replacement professor for a year, then they kept me on for another year, and I was an adjunct at another school for two years. Teaching is awesome, and I still work as a guest artist (I'm a playwright and theatre person) but I hate committee meetings! Right now, I'm a trapeze artist and I spend most of my time on the road. I love it! I'm glad I got my degree, though, and I try to keep my teaching up to date so that when I'm too old to fly I can go back to it.

I would have cried with you. Hope your dreams come true, they should with all you are putting into this.

Great writing, without pathos you told us how it was. Well done for keeping strong.

I hope they do too. I have big dreams but mostly I want the little ones to come true. Just..things like a car for me and one for my husband that work ok. And, when the kids need something (basic, like socks) we can just..buy it. Not try to figure out if we can do it now or have to wait. It would just be nice.

I'm working like crazy. My last paper for the semester is due Dec 12th.

Thank you so very, very much for your kind wishes to me!:)

If amount of hours=good grade, I did earn my grade.

Reading the rubic before I turned it in, I'm not CERTAIN I followed everything. But I did my best in the time allowed.

I'm just so so so glad he gave me grace.
