Title: "Add Eggs, Then Beat in the Soap"

"Need clean-up, Mommy!" She yells these words as I see her blur by the door to our bedroom. This isn't a good sign, not with this toddler of mine. You never know what I will walk in and see.

I follow the trail of paper towels she has unrolled, I presume, to clean the mess but it also works to mark her trail.

I am not always patient but with kids, sometimes you have to either laugh or cry.

I try to laugh. I don't always succeed but I try.

They are older now. There are still messes but not as bad. And I can see that one day there won't be messes anymore.

Which is wonderful but there is also something about it all, when they are small. It is easier to know what they are thinking. They are not on the phone in their rooms talking about how boring life is (like my 11 year old does now, sometimes.)

I think I will miss the messy days just a little bit.

Thanks so much for commenting! You are very kind:)

"I follow the trail of paper towels she has unrolled, I presume, to clean the mess but it also works to mark her trail."

I love that sentence. It's hilarious, but from the parenting side, totally believable as well. *chuckle* Your toddler, five-year-old now I guess, sounds adoreable.

"Someday she will think with her head instead of just her heart."

No worries, there are still plenty of those all heart moments to go around. Well, and plenty unexpected messes too--have you seen any of my recent entries about dog pee? LOL

Thanks for allowing us into your former toddler world. *grin* Reading this made me remember a day when I stayed home with a VERY young Amanda, only to be faced, for my very first time, with an orally explosive child. Oh, the horror. :)

Awwwwww. That sounds like just the sort of thing AEMA would do. I feel a little extra glad for the security fence my Hubby installed, blocking her from the kitchen. LOL.

One of those wonderfully puzzling moments where you know the kid is trying to be responsible and do the right thing, so how do you stop her actions without discouraging her her intentions at the same time? Of course, to us on the sidelines, it's just funny. But once upon a time, I had moments like this, too.
