The sellertemporary tenant STILL hasn't finished moving out yet. Apparently he got the idea that he can take his time since we're not formally moving until the 13th. Apparently he failed to deduce that we may stalling the move because we're using the two weeks to do work in the house ( Read more... )

This may be too late for you to use, but be sure to take a lease for him to sign. Make the rent really outrageous, too. This tends to speed things up, even if it's unenforceable, because he won't be sure it won't be. At least that worked for my brother who was the same nice buyer that you are being.

Heh, my first thought was to start charging him an outrageous holdover fee. His "lease" technically ended yesterday.

He *is* clearly moving out, he just seemed to think it was OK to take his time. He's only left his clothes, his fishtank, and some stuff in the garage, and a dirty kitchen floor.

Since he is a real estate agent, we thought he would know better than to screw around with a rent-back. Oh well. We'll run screaming to our agent if he's not out today. We have work to do dammit!

That was one hurdle I got to skip, since I was just buying the house I was already living in. It *did* take my brother months to finally get the last of his crap out of the second bedroom it was piled in though, the bastard.
