Kaylee,
Roland, and
Mal have already received their presents. Each of the gifts that could not be presented in person is accompanied by a small plain card, reading Happy New Year in both English and Chinese characters, and signed Simon Tam.
For River, there's a box of assorted colors of high-quality modeling clay. It's nothing like as extensive as the set they had at home when they were kids, but it's a respectable assortment.
For Inara, there's an elegant velvet scarf in deep jewel-tones of turquoise and teal.
For Wash and Zoe, there's a mobile designed to hang over a crib. The dangling shapes are stylized stars, moons, ringed planets, and ships. It plays a tinkling music-box rendition of a very old folk song, "Green Hills of Earth."
And for Jayne, there's a small bottle of very fine single-malt whiskey.
Left under the tree at Milliways:
For Eddie and Susannah Dean, there is a box of chocolate liqueurs and a woven wall-hanging bearing the Chinese character for Home.
For Faith Lehane, there is a tie-dyed silk scarf in deep reds and violets.
For Lilly Kane, there is a tie-dyed silk scarf in bright greens and goldens.
For Bernard and Tonks, there is a box of chocolate liqueurs and a painted wooden plaque designed to be hung on or beside a door, reading Welcome.
And for Anthony Crowley, there's a three-dimensional puzzle in highly polished golden wood. When assembled, as now, it's in the shape of an apple.
