Last minute I know, but I've just discoverd that the showing of the Oscar Nominated short films ends on Thursday.  So i'm catching the 7:30 show TONIGHT at the E street theater downtown.  Anybody interested can meet me there.

NASCAR and Figure skating are alike in that they're named for something that ISN'T part of the sport anymore.  There is literally nothing stock about a stock car.  Under the Car of Tomorrow rules, the farby plastic covers that they bolt on to the racers don't even pretend to ba a particular street car.  Only the decals distinguish Fords from Chevys ( Read more... )

Spotted a big, fat woodchuck in my backyard this morning...

I just bought a set of tire chains for the van.  If we have another winter like last one, I will not be snowed in for almost a week at at time.  Of course now that I have 'em, we'll have a more typical winter with a couple of desultory attempst at snowk, but that's okay. 

I'm trying to figure out what to do this weekend, and see whether anybody else in interested in doing it together.

Possibilities off the top of my head:
the zoo (especially on monday, when the kids are back in school to reduce the crowds.
