Having no knowledge of L'Occitan, besides the popular Provencal-American high-end cosmetics chain, I still think your translation is brilliant! One of my favorite Greek philosophical quotes from Epictetus:

"He who obeys chance and yields happily to fate,
is deemed wise among men
and knows the pain of the heavens."

That is a lovely quote from Epictetus. And thanks.. . the translation is actually my own. I had an English translation in front of me, but I changed it to more accurately reflect the original text
