Know your history

I found the Hollywood Reporter B/A ad placed by Bangels when Buffy was sold to UPN back in 2002. I miss the days when fan factions would put ads in the trades. I'm sure Mutant Enemy must have wondered at what they had unleashed.

Outwardly I'm academically fascinated by this. It's a case where the participatory nature of fandom goes even into the paratexts. And inwardly I'm laughing at the audacity.

I know there was a Thank You James Marsters & a Thank You Charisma Carpenter ads placed in Variety/Hollywood Reporter. There may have been a W/T one too. Not aware of any Spuffy ones.

I did however completely forget that SMG placed a Thank You ad at the end of Buffy.

That was really classy of SMG! And I think I've heard of the W/T one somewhere - the B/A ad was the only one I definitely knew existed.
