How I feel...

I'm seriously considering buying a cane. Trimming off the beard and growing some stubble. I shall then start popping Vicodin like it's candy. I shall start talking with an American accent, and take up practising medicine as a certified diagnostician ( Read more... )

I have bi-lateral congenital clubbed feet. They managed to mostly repair the left foot after several surgeries, final one in 1979. The right foot, is an abysmal mess. They have been working on repairing it since birth and then picked up again in 1987. Last surgery 2007. It's mostly fused, with the exception of the 2nd through 4th metatarsals. That's it ( ... )

Ouch.

Thank you for sharing that. Seriously! Because I'm the sort of person who will quite happily make some really stupid comment without meaning to, and also because it gives me an insight into where you are coming from!

Yes, I'm slowly feeling better, thanks. Ankle and foot are still swollen, and sore but I'm able to put more weight on it now. Actually, I guess it gives me some small amount of empathy towards what you feel like all the time...

~grin~ I'm coming from a very strange place.

The odd thing about pain, is that you can grow used to. It becomes a part of you, as does the anger and various other characteristically normal attributes.

The equally odd thing is teaching yourself to move past the pain and anger and not let everything be colored by it. That damned hope again.

Yes, I actually heard Hugh Laurie using his own accent on a Making Of House documentary.

It wasn't until I sprained my ankle last time that I appreciated the Hills Hoist I had back in Padbury. At least you could stand still to hang out the laundry and rotate the clothes line.

I find it a never ending source of amusement that Americans can't actually tell when someone is faking an American accent!I mean, you can usually spot someone pretending to do an Aussie accent, right? There are some pronunciations they just don't quite get.

Same with English. Usually the accent is just a little too perfect, very few people speak with a totally upper-class toff accent these days, and regional English accents are quite tricky to get right if you don't live there!

Behave yourself!
Falling down stairs is not something you should be doing when you have a sprained ankle.
Anyways, I hope you'll heal up okay.
