Title: What He Does Best
Characters/Pairing: House/Wilson friendship
Word Count: 300
Rating: G
Spoilers: House has a hobby. Poor Wilson.
Author's Notes: Just a little silly thing, mostly because I love the way RSL reacts. His portrayal of Wilson makes the character, I don't think anyone could get that level of affectionate irritation across.
Annoyance as art form, this is House's forte.
Once a minor hobby, aggravation has become a discipline, and he is nearly as talented at irritation as he is at medicine.
Infuriating Cuddy is tiresome; far too easy than it had been in the days before the infarction.
Frustrating Foreman requires very little effort on his part. He could phone in his insults (he's done it once or twice) and get the same results.
Cameron will cry, and Chase will carp or clam up, and Stacy will be pissy.
Entirely too predictable, entirely too monotonous, and entirely too boring.
Wilson, as ever, is an anomaly.
Certainly they argue. They've also been known to clash, to snipe, to snark, and on increasingly-rare occasions, to fight.
Wilson's reactions are wide and varied.
He may roll his eyes. He may give a long-suffering sigh. He may walk away. He may do all three, or some combination of the three. He has been known to snort.
He is capable of cursing, although only under extreme circumstances.
Once, under intense provocation, Wilson had flipped him off, the memory of which will stand forever as one of House's finest moments.
There is no rhyme or reason to his reactions, and there is no telling what new reaction will be pulled from Wilson with each and every escalation of House's particular hobby.
One memorable day had Wilson snorting, stammering, throwing french fries at Greg's head, chewing at his thumbnail until it bled, and pinching at the bridge of his nose so hard that House was afraid he'd almost pushed too far. Almost.
However, their arguments are hardly ever serious, as Wilson hardly ever rouses himself enough to take real offense at anything House says or does.
It's just too damned annoying.
He should ask Wilson for pointers.
