it's new year's eve. i go back to school in four days and i'm already packed.

break's been... boring. unfortunately, we didn't go to maine, and i really wanted to, though i did have the opportunity to visit relatives on my dad's side in pennsylvania. my dad's hometown was home to the warner brothers' first theater, and they're endorsing a brand new theater that's part of an "urban renewal"-type project. the city looks completely different from the last time i was there, though i guess the people are the same- a man my dad went to high school with recognized him after not having seen him for decades, and they got to chat.

my sister got new skis but the snow was gone by the time we got back from pa. shoot.

i got to see a friend from school and eat lunch with him at panera. i stopped by danielle's house and we traded stories that involved a bunch of squealing and giggling like 8-year-olds. i watched mean girls with scott and that was grool, even though i was way too loud. fog had completely overtaken rochester when i left his house, which at least made turning left onto rochester road a little bit more of an adventure.

i went to birmingham today to go shopping and saw a series of unfortunate events at the palladium. despite the fact that jim carrey was a main character, it was actually one of the better movies i've seen in quite a while. of course, the last one i saw was national treasure, so i guess it's all relative...

other than that, a couple shopping trips have been all i've done. boring boring boring boring boring....

i have seen some people i really, really miss.

maybe tonight will be interesting.

So this is the new year
And I don't feel any different.
The clanking of crystal,
Explosions off in the distance.

So this is the new year
And I have no resolutions
For self-assigned penance
For problems with easy solutions.

So everybody put your best suit or dress on
Let's make believe that we are wealthy for just this once
Lighting firecrackers off on the front lawn
As thirty dialogues bleed into one.

I wish the world was flat like the old days.
Then I could travel just by folding a map.
No more airplanes, or speedtrains, or freeways-
There'd be no distance that can hold us back.

There'd be no distance that could hold us back

So this is the new year...
