long weekend
i haven't *updated* in awhile, so here goes...
i had planned to go up to state this past weekend and see everybunny over there, but on thursday my mom called me as i was headed to the bus for geosci seminar and told me my uncle from maine was coming!! my favorite uncle!! woot woot.
so jason came and picked me up thursday after geosci and we chilled in the room for awhile. he gave me christmas presents (alcoholic posters, bunny sign, puma purse, ipod socks! (did i miss anything?) ) and then a pretty ring for 8 months! i showered twice and then we went to dinner at macaroni grill. the weather was really bad- rainy- driving home. and we almost died twice (i so thought we were gonna hit that sign. and then that bastard cut us off), but that's ok! cuz we didn't. clearly.
did you know that they play "learn italian" in the bathroom at macaroni? i learned how to say "excuse me," "bathroom," "today," and "yesterday," while i was there. mmhmm.
ate some yummy cannolis and then had tiramisu. scrumptious. went to j's house to watch the O.C.
friday, i picked my sister up from school, drove her to ice skating practice (Port Huron competition february 5!) and then my uncle came home from the airport! we took my sister to violin and saw what little there is to see of downtown rochester. we ate at kruse and muer, which was excellent but also comical because they brought SO much bread and water. completely unnecessary. we told them to stop, but they kept coming. it must be some kind of policy there that no one EVER is allowed to finish bread or beverages. after that i went to jasons and other people were there... we started to watch Troy but i fell asleep. gah, mono.
saturday we went to lifetime with the uncle, then my dad had people over for the steelers game. i went ice skating with my sister and her best friend. we had a TERRIBLE time with the coffee machine. all i wanted was hot chocolate. the machine filled the cup up WAY too far- it was overflowing- but there was a line so i had to get my hot chocolate out so the next person could get his. but the cup was flimsy and the chocolate unbearably hot... so there i was, screaming, "megan! haley! help me! get napkins! or kleenex! or... come hold this!" so they run over and megan brings kleenex which is instantly soaked with scalding chocolate and then haley tries to hold it for a minute and gets burnt. gah. by the time it was all done, i had spilled hot chocolate EVERYwhere, but the cup was still filled almost to the brim. mysterious, and very frustrating.
that night jason and i went out to a movie. we saw "in good company," which i thought was an outstanding movie. very cute, predictable but still exciting because in some ways, the movie was like my life. except i don't go to NYU and wish i did, and my parents haven't taken out a second mortgage on our house. yet.
(also, i would never sleep with my dad's boss although i'm pretty sure my dad's boss would have few objections to sleeping with me. perv.)
Sunday we went to the auto show in the morning, then to somerset where we got coffee and i was expressly forbidden to shop. I had dinner at home and it was the best dinner i've had in SUCH a long time. Uncle Chuck made steaks! food, glorious food. we watched desperate housewives and boston legal.
Monday my mom, sister, and uncle chuck and i went to somerset once again. this time, i was allowed to shop! i bought a pair of Seven jeans and a black blazer with itty bitty blue and red pinstripes on it from Express. also i bought a really silky off-white shirt from GAP which i am wearing right now.
then we dropped uncle chuck at the airport, i got dropped in ann arbor, and here i am. going back to class was a major let-down after this weekend, but next weekend should be just lovely, thanks to my visitor!! mmm.
i also picked up a parking permit this afternoon so i can now officially park in the Baits II lot. that should be happening after i go home the 28.
gotta run- meeting jennie at 4 at espresso royale. it's no caribou, but as long as coffee has caffeine, i'm all set.
