Fast as they can

I am equal parts incredulous and excited that there is going to be yet another Fast/Furious movie. How did I not know about Fast Five, especially when it is set to be released in just over a month?! And it's going to have not only Dom and Brian but Roman and Han as well! I am so ready for more ridiculously unbelievable, carporny, slashy fun!

I'm also kinda surprised that you'd missed hearing about Fast Five - I know I've seen a bit of talk, and I've squeed about it on occasion (and posted the first trailer a while ago). but it's only six weeks or so until it arrives!!

I think there must have been a ships-passing-in-the-night moment between your and others' entries about it and when I dove back into LJ, sadly, although I did see an entry from you on it a couple weeks ago now. I've also since seen an ad on T.V. for it, and we're down to only 3.5 weeks at this point 'til its release, yay!

So, I haven't seen any of them, but people keep talking about them. Should I rent the other ones? (I would feel weird seeing #5 if I'd not seen 1-4). Are they worth it? I thought it was all slashy goodness, but there seem to be a lot of women in the preview. Please! Advise me! ;-)

Hmm. Well, there are some women in the movies, and they're not weak characters, but the super-slashy boys are the main reason I've enjoyed the movies. These movies are primarily about boys and their toys. (No, they -- at least the good guys -- do not view women as being among their toys.) You have to be willing essentially to turn off your brain while watching, and sometimes mindless fun is really all I need.

In some ways, even though almost none of the movies in the series share the exact same combination of characters, if you've seen one, you've kind of seen them all. That said, there are characters who appeared only in #2; only in #3-4; only in #1-2 & #4; and only in #1 & #3-4 who are all appearing in #5, and I have no idea from the previews how much it would matter for a viewer not to have the context of their previous appearances. Probably not much -- what with the turning off of the brain -- but personally I like having the background ( ... )

Ok, I will see about checking them all out. They were on my list anyway.

Very sweet of you to offer to send them, but no worries. I feel horrid when I keep things for too long (and I always do; I have Netflix discs that I've had close to a year or more!). I think Hubby is willing to watch them with me (though I expect I'll enjoy them more than he would).

I can enjoy all sorts of stuff like that. I tend to go more often then Hubby (which is a running joke between us) to movies that are supposed to by "Guy flicks".

I don't like horror, and I don't like embarrassing humor, and these days for my sanity, I stay away from really depressing, but I usually like almost everything else. At least to some degree. (I adored Drive Angry despite the fact that it was a dreadful movie...)

Hmm, wonder how much time I have to see the first four before the new one hits the theatres?
