About two days ago my red-pink ramshorn snails arrived in the mail from eBay! They all survived the cold winter journey from Sardinia,Ohio to Pittsburgh, PA. That is one of my cats, little Quinti sitting next to the snail jars.
I used to have apple snails, so I do love snails! They are fascinating creatures to watch and they are so relaxing!
Once, one of mine laid a clutch of eggs while we were away. Unfortunately, the clutch dried out and I could not save it. That was the only time I thought I would have babies!
<3 They are really beautiful. Great looking cat, too! :)
Oh I just bought 6 Apple Snails today! I was thinking I had not had any since around 1973....but your mention of the eggs reminded me I did have one around 1980 and it laid eggs. Mine never hatched either, but I just read they may not have been fertilized or like you said they could have dried out. I agree, they are sooooooo relaxing to watch. It totally spaces me out and I forget everything around me! Snail Meditation!
Oh you sound like me- watching the little snail mouths moving on the glass! Today i just bought 6 Apple Snails. I have not had one of those since around 1973!
I don't know much (well, actually I know nothing) about snails, but they look lovely in the jar, and I imagine they'd be fascinating to watch. Quinti is lovely too!
