I recently discovered Melody Gardot (quite randomly too...forgot how I found her through clicks of the internet) and am basically in love with her music and voice! She has such a sultry and clear (and yet sometimes quiet) voice that, with a nice sound system, you would feel like she is singing right in front of you.  Some people compare her to

Wow, I just looked up her stuff and it's great. I'm really excited when I find contemporary jazz music that is this good. Keeps my hope alive for the genre.

I also happen to think that this is the type of music that would be great to listen to and/or dance to with a loved one.

There really ought to be a night club in SF that plays this type of music and where people can slow dance.

haha, i saw your post on the ucberkeley community asking about that too...and all I could think of was blues dance as well (but that is slightly different actually, not with a solo singer like Melody)

hmmph...am stumped.
