Simple and cool winter coordination X 3
that Matsumoto Jun wears.
His image is that of a stylish, well-dressed man. Arashi’s #1 fashionista, what kind of style does Matsujun wear for a date? Please teach us the sweet relationship between fashion and love!
1. First Date
“TPO (time, place, occasion) and mood are very important in deciding what to wear. You have the image of me wearing gaudy outfits, but actually I wear various kinds of clothes. I either wear it extremely flashy or tremendously simple. For first dates, I’d pretty much wear something with collars. I’ll forgo stiff suits and choose something like a shirt under a cardigan. A scarf like this can also give a stylish image. In autumn and winter, I would always have a scarf in my bag. For a meeting place, I would choose somewhere cliché like in front of Hachiko statue in Shibuya. We will walk around aimlessly, and when we get hungry we’ll eat what we feel like eating. But we’d certainly go to watch [Hidamari no Kanojo]!”
“The best approach for first date! What about a movie at Shibuya?”
2. Park Date
I like going to public parks for a date, because you can have a good time without doing anything special. You can see kids with their parents or people who take their dogs for a walk; being able to encounter different people is also part of the fun. Since we’ll be doing stuffs like petting some passing dogs or sitting on the ground, it’s better to choose clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty. Actually today’s outfit is a pretty fancy patterned shirt, but I think it’s suitable for an outdoor date because it has a nice fit. If we get tired after walking, we can go back and relax at home. I will change into a sweat shirt. The girlfriend is welcome to bring a house wear to change so we can thoroughly relax. Though I don’t know whether you can still call it a date when it comes to that (laugh).”

3. Dinner Date
“Wearing a suit will give you a boost of confidence, I think. It’s not like I prefer formal dates, but in case of anniversaries, I’d like to do it properly. I like arranging surprises for special people. Earlier this year, I organized a big birthday surprise for one of the friends that I meet often. On that day, I told him that we’d have dinner just the two of us because the other guys couldn’t make it. I made him pick me at home and on top of that, I screamed at him ‘You’re late!’ to upset him once (laugh). The prank was that I actually got a big party of around 30 people gather in the restaurant to celebrate. He was really happy. However, I don’t want to be the one getting pranked (laugh).”

Ninomiya
1. He’s always stylish every time I look at him.
2. Nothing～ I don’t know that many kinds of clothing in the first place (laugh).
3. At the point where he’s interested in fashion, I’d think of him as “unique”.
4. Not letting people say whether it’s cool or lame. Basically, something that won’t evoke reaction from others. Some time ago, I accidentally wore striped top and bottom when I was about to go out. Of course, it interestingly looked like a prisoner outfit so I changed out of them.
Ohno
1. Black jeans with a vivid flower embroidery. He looked good in it.
2. Shorts. I only saw him wear them for Kokuritsu rehearsals, so I want to see it more often.
3. Eccentric.
4. I only wear the one on the top of the folded clothes pile. For summer, I wear T-shirts and jeans. For winter, I only change the top with shirts. Matsujun might choose his outfit based on moods, but I don’t have such resources (laugh).
Sakurai
1. Shutter shades.
2. I never look at him from that perspective though (laugh), maybe tuxedo?
3. A style that combines gaudy and chic.
4. They don’t vary much as the range of clothes I like is limited. My closet is full of similar things, checked shirts for example. It’s not like I have no interest in fashion, but it’s totally in different league from Matsujun’s passion.
Aiba
1. A “Robocop” style sunglasses that he once wore. It’s not even the matter of looking good or not. That is something only Matsujun can pull off.
2. I want him to wear the clothes he likes.
3. Casual. Fits him the best (laugh).
4. I think the mood and materials are important. Basically, my closet is full of clothes from my favorite brands.
