Well... Yes and no. The bits I was really concerned about really weren't as bad as I was anticipating. What was implied to be attempted incestuous rape was over and gone in half a page, and even the childbirth scene was fairly quick (though there was some seriously skeevy metaphors there - red hot pincers tearing her apart is the one I remember most vividly, though there were several more).

The domestic abuse, though, I was glad for that warning. And there were several other points where I wished I had had a warning.

So overall, my instincts of DO NOT WANT were spot on, even if the specifics were off a bit.
