You'd think in my line of work that I'd be used to the silences, the finality, the loss and the grief.
But when the silent, cold person in front of me is very much alive, twisting my heart in ways even as a scientist, I can't explain, then it becomes impossible to deal. When she's standing there, lips pressed tightly together in a final, heart breaking line, staring at the ground... the grief is unimaginable. She's killing me.
Every day a little death, every day a little further from me until now, I find myself standing alone watching you fade deeper into the distance.
