I want to share something with you guys. It's all been kittens and chickens, but that doesn't mean nothing's been going on - just that I haven't updated. Hopefully I will get back in the habit. I'll start with this story which made me weep today, in a good way ( Read more... )

Wow, what a great story! Thanks so much for sharing it.

And by the way, congratulations on fulfilling my challenge. A long time ago in my LJ, you responded to a meme asking me to give some impressions of you and challenge you to do something. I challenged you to tell us something about who YOU are, beyond merely the fascinating but non-personal activities such as kittens, chickens, and cakes. You just did it. :-)

Indeed! I assumed that David was a popular kid with no worries or troubles of his own. It was a total revelation that he arrived at the school I was so miserable at, as a broken kid, two years before I met him.

This was a really rewarding interchange for me, and, I think, for him :)

Oh Kimberly! Thank you for this *wonderful* post! I love this story. The unknown power of a simple kind gesture to change the course of another's life, and the power of the acknowledgement of that long-forgotten kindness as well. I'm inspired now to take another look at my FB friends list. I would bet that i could find a similar situation in my own life if I look around. Thank you for reminding me, as you so often do, of what's really important (including kittens, of course :)).
