I hope you don't mind me posting...total random stranger (I followed your LJ post at booj here). Just saw this entry and wanted to lend some encouragement! Neuroanatomy isn't as hard a thing to learn as you might suspect. ;)

I got a BS and MS at New Mexico State University in Animal Science (livestock research...mainly research to benefit the livestock industry) but I was lucky enough to have an awesome advisor who did Endocrinology. Through grad school, and having this advisor, I took some pretty awesome courses in Neuroanatomy/physiology.

I'm currently working at the University of Texas in a Neurobiology lab studying alcohol addiction (I may get my PhD here if I ever take my quals/apply).

But, it's really not that hard to learn anatomy of the brain and CNS! There are tons of books out there on the subject and, if you want specifics on neurotransmittors/sections of the brain, there are so many resources on the internet. Here's a few of my favorite resources:
