I went to a brand new school which was just built the year that i started there, we didnt have  such a thing as library until around 7th grade.  But still our school tried to encourage good reading habits in us, in all ways possible.  I remember how we were asked to read an English newspaper everyday, and we had to write up news highlights everyday

Isn't it funny how looking back in our lives, we reminisce mostly the nostalgic moments? Your post does that. I recall reading 'Bobanum Mollyiyum' - the story revolved around white leghorn chickens (witelegon in malluspeak - the story came out when these chickens were quite the fad in Kerala). In it everyone in town were searching for the missing precious bunch of 'witelegons' and then boban and Molly come to find out that 'athu pattiyudde vayattile-gone' :-)
