And as the weeks go by, it simply becomes colder and colder. This won't do; the leaves are changing on the trees as well. I've managed to find some heavier clothes for myself, but there are no guarantees if it begins to snow. I worry very much for what may befall us all these next few months ( Read more... )

The maid. How could she talk to him outside the kitchen if he was in it?

Incorrect; assume she was just outside the door.

Wait a minute. "One Sunday morning"? "I was preparing lunch"?

The cook.

Incorrect. The cook was preparing lunch early, as it was perhaps ten in the morning when the murder occured.

Hmm...

My Aunt sent letters just to say
"Hello!" when I was far away
But never one on a Sunday
'twas the mailman who was ...naughty.

The post does not come on Sundays. It is like that everywhere, yes?

As far as I know, it is. If that is your answer, it's very much correct; I do enjoy the rhyme, my good man.

Ah! And on my first try, too! How wonderful.

And thank you, sir. I've been rhyming more and more often here. It helps pass the time.

There certainly is a lot of time to pass. Rhyming is truly one way to go about it: I would imagine it takes some effort.

It happens to be a lovely skill for puzzle solving. It takes some time for others to amass the same ability, myself included.

Well on Sunday, there's no mail, so it seems there's a hole in the mailman's tale. I take it he's the one who did assail, and is the fella to send to jail.

Ha ha! Indeed; masterfully done, sir. The rhymes make your answer all the more stunning.

Yer makin' me blush, Sir. Rhymes're nothin' special, it's just good to know I got something like a brain on top of that. If you're doin' more stuff like this, I'll hafta keep an eye out for it, keep the gears oiled.

It's a talent, certainly. I would assume most writers have some trouble rhyming, if the situation called for it, but that was absolutely effortless.

I try to present a new puzzle every week; it's good to know I'm helping some by doing so.

The mailman. There's no mail delivered on Sundays.

Murder mysteries are a specialty of mine.

Correct.

Ah, are they? I would imagine it's a rather difficult field of work to be in, considering the personal values that come into play.
