So, I have 11 Dreamwidth codes for inviting people. Ask and ye shall receive. It's kinda quiet, but it's getting more active all the time, and it's good to have a back-up ( Read more... )

A03 sounds *really* interesting! Never would've heard about it if it hadn't been for you.

I'm on dreamwidth... koslorollo... if anyone sees this and wants to add me. *eyedart*

Hello, btw!

It's quite fun! And you can search by tags, and find things that are generally categorized in different ways (but it's a self tagging system, it seems, so some tags are the same across fandoms, and some are rather not). For example, I could search for one pairing, and find them in the book section, the movie section, and the tv section (if there were three derivatives of the kind). It's ArchiveOfOurOwn, also, in case it wasn't quick and easy to find from my AO3 shorthand, lol. That's fandom speak, as there are three words that start with "O" so instead of going AOOO, it's AO3.

It's also referred to as OTW (which I'm thinking is Open Transformative Works, but I could be wrong). Very confusing when people first began to reference it.

Hi back, btw!

Organization for Transformative Works: it's the name of the nonprofit parent organization that runs AO3, Fanlore (the history wiki), TWC (the academic journal), The Open Doors Project (archival/preservation stuff), and some other things. Before AO3 went into open beta and people could actually get accounts, everyone tended to talk about "OTW" since that was the organization people were actually seeing do stuff. But now that AO3 is up and running, OTW isn't that relevant unless people are interested in the other projects or want to volunteer or something.

The parent org website is this one: http://transformativeworks.org/

Thanks! I knew that Transformative Works was in there somewhere... I knew about Fanlore, but it's cool to see some of the other things they're involved in.

Also, hi! *waves* I don't think I've seen you around here before... not that I'm around here often myself, lol. So, nice to meet you (again?), and thanks again for the info.
