OTOH... forced vacation YAY! Umm. I think. o_O
Okay, so, the longish thinky-post I meant to put up along with birthday-related thanks etc will have to wait a bit longer, because atm my typing mobility is either exclusively right-hand-only or a more generalized hunt-and-peck. Both of which are prone to error & time consuming.
Basically, I accidentally stabbed myself in the hand because I was stupid and trying to take the pit out of my avocado and when the knife didn't twist the pit out when I did it the correct way, I decided to poke/pry it out and the knife slipped off and went through the avocado and into my hand right where my middle finger meets the palm.
The Kaiser advice nurse said no, I could not come to urgent care if stitches might be involved (why? are stitches not urgent-ish care? IDEK) and that I needed to go to the ER. Where I have never been. (I have only been in an ER once, and I was unconscious at the time and so concussed afterwards that I don't remember it.) Meanwhile I put a couple of big rubber bands around my fist to keep it closed over the paper towel I was clutching, looked up the driving directions from Google maps, and took myself to the ER.
Which was... interesting. :-/ Yeah, 'nuff said. And so I got to experience the numbing needle and the tetanus booster :-p and then the actual poking-of-a-needle-through-my-skin, which was an odd sensation. Made it back home in just under three hours.
Fingers still swollen some today, and achy, and you would not believe how often you use those fingers for leverage or to stupidly grab at something before you remember OW OW OW, but I managed to take a pic - 'cos like I told
cretkid, stitches totally pwn any softball-related bruises for at least the next week. :D
So I can't work in my classroom until the stitches come out, because I can't be carrying/moving heavy things etc with that hand. OH NOES, I WILL HAVE TO ACTUALLY BE ON VACATION. *g* Which, yay, except for when August rolls around and I am suddenly all /o\ and behind again.
*sigh*
