Why must the public library close so early on Friday? Sure it's like date night but some of us have no lives and want books. *makes sad face*

And I swear the library used to be open until 9 on Fridays. I swear.

Do you have any historical fiction?

What's your favourite book, anyways. I'm curious.

My library closes early too, but they have an affiliation with a digital library which allows downloads of books onto your PC and as it's a website it's open for business at all hours. Something to check into if your interested.

Probably budget cuts and/or insurance costs forced them to close earlier. Even though many libraries have unpaid volunteers working that might help with payroll costs, there is still liability insurance, worker's compensation insurance and depending on where the library is located, security costs could come into play also.

(...sorry to drag on like that; I do insurance stuff where I work and it's insane how much that cost alone controls so much of what a business can do and when it can do it...)

It's a sad sign of the economic times everywhere.

I'm sure you're right about the budget cuts. That's a fairly likely reason because it did used to be open on Friday evenings, my mother confirmed this.

It is a sad sign. Maybe, when times are better, the library can go back to being open later on Fridays. I'd like that.
