So today on the radio there's a segment on a university professor of Russian and Slavonic studies named Frank Ellis who, in an interview with the university paper, stated that black people have consistently lower IQs than whites. Aaaaaah someone actually thinking on LJ, burn me now!!!!

But seriously, these people mentioned in the article are idiotic bigots for the statements they made but you shouldn't be arrested for an opinion. What makes the opinions of the idiots any less than the opinions of vaguely smart people? I thought we lived in a time where (in terms of basic human rights) everyone was equal.

It's exactly that kind of statement (idiotic bigots) that causes this. If our knee-jerk reaction to any sort of pseudo-racist comment or unconventional political opinion is to call them an 'idiotic bigot', then we can't condemn the law or the workplace for reflecting that ( ... )

Quiet you, I only got the jist of your article. Oh and i'm perfectly entitled to call them idiotic bigots even though that may not be the case since it's my opinion of them due to their comments. Yet surely that means that i'm an idiotic bigot as well for my narrow minded views of people who make racist comments (not implying that the dude on the radio show did). Any person is entitled to have this opinion, but they shouldn't censor mine because of it.
