Due to LiveJournal's new ban on all anonymous posting we've moved all comments and secret Submissions to DreamWidth. All new secrets will ONLY be posted there. Thank you!
Yes! Absolutely! The program is HTTrack. I'm actually thinking about posting a short tutorial of how to use it on my tumblr. It's pretty easy to use but it can be finicky. Just make sure that when you use it you "ignore robot.txt" and grab files other than just HTML (Photos, zip files, etc)
Also, make sure to use "server tolerant" settings if you're scraping LiveJournal or it will IP ban you before you can get very far.
Sim secret has been a constant in the community for over a decade. It is an archive of how public views in the community have changed over the years.
It is an interesting process to go from the beginning of Sim Secret and read over some of the early entries. You can see the pendulum swinging multiple times on topics such as, rather or not TSR is good. Paid CC, how public opinions on certain members of the community have changed over the years.
As well as the fact that there are ghosts here. Posts from people who have passed on preserved in a moment in time with their comments on the weekly entries.
All of it is here. That is something worth saving.
Hell yes it is. It is like a weird archive of significant sims events throughout the years. It's so facinating to go back to when sims 3 was released. I would miss this stuff dearly :(
