You photograph people in elevators?

Do you ask their permission, or do it while they're not looking?

Both? I have some covert ones and some where I announce "Hey, I'm in photography and I'm doing a series of pictures of people in elevators, do you guys mind if I take a few shots?"

They're sort of trapped and can't go anywhere.

Jesus Christ, that's brave.

My experience with candid photography involved using a zoom lens to take pictures of people from across the street and then running away.
