Personality:

His Organization Days

Steadfast, stubborn, yet beneath it all? Reflective with a mellow kindness.

Or at least as much as a Nobody can be. An individual said to possess no emotions.

For someone 'born' without memories, Roxas comes off as a surprisingly complex individual although his desire for a simple life sometimes seems to contradict that. A life where he can just spend his days on the clock tower with his two best friends. Something that he earnestly strives to keep in tact throughout his existence. These simple times with his friends are what matters the most to him. What makes him the most content. It's in those times that he can be comfortable and happy, gladly taking jabs at his friends and getting them in return with false protests and laughter. Around them, he becomes animated and warm. Where his kindheartedness surfaces and reflects a muted sense of his Other's fond attitude.

Another part of Sora that Roxas seems to mirror is his confidence, specifically in bearing the keyblade. Even in his early days as part of the Organization, he remarks to Axel after one of his first missions that he 'could have done it blindfolded'. In a way, perhaps the keyblade brings him a sense of security. A sense of something that gives him value and helps define his existence, even as he later questions why he has it in the first place. The keyblade was something that made him 'exceptional' as Xigbar once put it. A tool that no other Organization members could use other than he and Xion (which makes one wonder just what the Organization was doing all those years beforehand). And his proficiency grounds him. Makes him happy in some sense and gives him purpose as Xemnas once emphasized he would be given by joining their ranks. Roxas himself simply accepting things at face value at first, even, for a long period of time.

In that sense of simplicity though, Roxas can be taken as naive. Which he is in a lot of ways. While he does have the convenience of having Sora's memories to go by, he yet remains oblivious to many things. The simplest concepts that a Somebody would take for granted such as the why someone would worry about someone else go right over his head at first. In the beginnings, he doesn't even know what a best friend is. This, among many other things, is something heavily taught through Axel and in some part by his travels throughout the worlds. And something he may even still indeed be naive to in some aspects (considering his last words to Xion are "Who else will I have ice cream with?").

That isn't to say he's ignorant though nor chooses to be that way. In fact, quite to the contrary, Roxas is incredibly curious. Ever play the game of twenty questions? Triple it and that seems to be often times what many of the Organization members contend with throughout his early days. If he doesn't know something, he'll seek to know. To understand. To 'commit it to memory'. And with that in mind, when Roxas doesn't know something, he doesn't typically hesitate to ask for the most part (only really avoiding it depending on the attitude of the person he's asking at first; he didn't really like to rock the boat). His curiosity blends well into his honesty. Just like if he doesn't know, he'll let someone know, whatever he says is whatever he thinks.

At first, it may come off that Roxas just never really knew to use digression. And at the start, he didn't. Because he didn't know what that was. But even as he grows, like Sora, Roxas just isn't one to lie. He wears if not his heart then his thoughts on his sleeve, mirroring his Somebody, too, in that respect. Making him easy to read. There's a good chance he doesn't even know what it is to lie at first, too. But then as his develops through the unintentional instigation of his friends, he realizes how much the Organization and even his friend, Axel, is withholding from him. So, while perhaps at first honesty was something he didn't even really think about-- it was just part of who he was --it later becomes a core value of his due to his constant frustration and confusion that revolves around his two best friends. Roxas once even shouts at Axel in his later days, "Friends are supposed to be honest with each other!"

Being left in the dark is something that Roxas despises. He hates it when people hide things from him and tends to snap out in anxiety and anger when he realizes people aren't being honest with him. When he does though, Roxas isn't one for petty insults, more focused on seeking answers. Even if he's simply trying to overcome someone who is an obstacle to him such as when he faces off with Saix, he never directly calls him a jerk. And the same can be said for Riku. About the only snappy comment he makes towards him is when he shouts at the other boy to shut up. Roxas is very concentrated on keeping himself pieced together and holding to what he believes. And he'll stubbornly follow through with that intent.

He also isn't someone who will just sit around and let things roll as they are, preferring to dive into the heart of the problem and consider the consequences only later on in. And it's usually only when he's hit a wall. This act first, think later policy can tend to get him into trouble at times, but it has had its upsides when the situation has called for a lack of hesitation. Still, there are times that he could use someone to point him in the right direction. But they usually have to bar his way completely in order for that to happen. Once set on a goal, Roxas is stubborn to pull through. His lack of trust in people in later days makes it even harder to stop him from what he intends on doing once he has his mind made up.

When he loses all faith in the Organization and Axel, Roxas begins to second guess people and expresses a considerable amount of caution and distrust for others. This can be attested to the secrets kept from him, Axel's betraying silence despite the knowledge he had, and the mistreatment and eventual annihilation of Xion, all things of which he may begin to slowly recall- potentially retriggered if they were to appear there and if he were to let down his walls. Roxas has been continuously manipulated by the Organization for their own selfish motives, using him as a means to their end. And it's something that has also caused him a lot of anxiety. Anyone who uses him is written off pretty quickly as being someone he never wants to associate with.

That isn't to say he cannot and will not befriend others. It just takes time and patience with him. In reality, as solid as he tries to be in his ambitions and his sense of self, Roxas does carry an underlying fear. One that makes him jerk at the mention of name, Sora. He really wants to believe he is who he is, but he knows that things aren't always what they seem. How exactly did he end up with the keyblade? And just who is Sora? Despite his lingering thoughts though, there's just a bigger piece of him that just doesn't particularly want to accept that things aren't how he knows them to be and thus he rejects it with a boldness. "I am me! Nobody else!"

Those who can get past his aloofness though will tend to find a good friend. Protective, loyal, and always more than happy to spend his afternoon on the clock tower eating ice cream with you.

His Summer Vacation

In the simulation, Roxas does act quite a bit different. First and foremost, Roxas' memories have been radically altered. He has become familiar with the every day "normal" human routine. His life consists of chilling out with his friends, Hayner, Pence, and Olette, during summer vacation while they dread the downer that school will be coming up soon. In general, he has gained the demeanor of a typical teenager. All his memories prior have been disconnected from the original chains, compliments of Naminé. This has brought out a lot of his softer side- the kind one that just enjoys sitting on the clock tower and eating ice cream with his friends. Ironic, really. Considering he continues that habit with his simulated gang.

Then he has less drastic changes. He's prone to be more of a space cadet. He thinks a lot and often times is caught looking like the most introverted of the group. Given, he's nearing the peak of his connection with Sora though, it's to be anticipated. He's constantly bombarded with weird dreams about that boy in red- and then his world only becomes more fragmented by the strange encounters he starts to face off with even in his awoken state. For someone so insistent on keeping a grip on himself and holding onto the reality he believes to be true, he slowly puts himself at a distance from it anyway without really noticing as the days progress. It isn't that he's accepting of these tidings though.

In fact, Roxas tends to be very dependent of his friends in the simulation in a way. One moment is when he loses the money that they have collected in order to go to the beach. While at first he's insistent on there being some strange man in a coat who took it, when his friends tell him they didn't see anyone, Roxas lets the matter drop. While he is shown to be having second thoughts, with how strange things have been lately for him (and apparently his weirdness tolerance being pretty high), he just tries to brush it off at first.

Still, this isn't to say he's completely disconnected from his friends. He values them highly as he always has, a trait carried over from his Organization days. He gets involved. Even for being as quiet as he can be, Roxas serves to be the one to be the decision maker in the group. The first day alone, while Hayner announces his frustrations, Roxas is the one that suggests that they should be concerned about clearing their names and then act from there. That doesn't always mean he's level-headed though as later that day, it's him that fakes out Seifer into thinking Roxas is going to do what he says. Yet then he takes up a struggle bat against him. This might be considered a ghost of his rebellious side that was born at the end of his Organization days- one further prompted by the strange matters going on as the days progress. And while part of him wants answers like his prior self, the other side of him just wants to run away back to the normalcy he's pretty certain he knows.

Currently, he thinks that Naminé was a daydream of some sort... but then another part of him is having second thoughts. Why does 'the Keyblade' seem so familiar? And who was that pickpocket and what about the guys in white? So many questions and no answers in sight.

Abilities:

All of Roxas' abilities are currently on limbo save for the use of his keyblade- and even then, it usually only responds to dangerous situations. It's not something he can freely and easily call to his aid at this point. This is something that might change given time. That being said...

Due to being Sora's nobody, Roxas is capable of calling on the keyblade to aid him (see weapons/items section for more details). And since his time during the Organization revolved around destroying heartless of many varieties, Roxas has become a very proficient keybearer. Like Sora, Roxas holds it two-handed usually and tends to make wide arced strikes. His fighting style showcases a confidence with hard hitting combos both aerial-wise and on the ground. He strikes quickly and without hesitance for the most part, taking the offensive rather than giving his opponent the chance to react. This style might be heavily attributed to the matter that this ability of his was something heavily praised and valued to the Organization. And whether he agrees with them anymore or not, the keyblade still stands to give him purpose, something he's capable of using and working well with.

While not as experienced with it, Roxas is also capable of dual-wielding. He fought with a fluidity that put his Other to shame. His movements smooth and concentrated yet with a firm bite. He doesn't usually choose to use both though and he won't be able to for a while anyway due to his canon point.

In a state of emergency, Roxas can use Event Horizon. During it, he strikes twice as fast with light-induced properties collected in his keyblade for an edge. In the final strike, four pillars of light explode out from the center and shoot out in all four cardinal directions. He can only use it as a safety net sort of move and it quickly exhausts him, but it's very efficient when desperate times call for desperate measures. When dual-wielding, his break becomes stronger, larger pillars of light raining down on his enemies in a random fashion before the final one crashes down towards his opponent (see 4:07 in the Even Horizon video). Considering the power of the move though, this will be muted in comparison.

Aside from light-based magic, Roxas is also capable of five other spells in particular: fire, blizzard, aero, thunder, and cure. These spells can be produced either by bare hands or through the keyblade. The keyblade itself strengthens the spell, capable of better channeling the magic. But at the beginning of relearning these spells, Roxas will only be able to use them without the keyblade at first. All of the spells themselves come at three levels using the traditional Final Fantasy franchise naming strategy.

Spells that end in -ara are second level and those ending in -aga are third level. The more powerful the level, the quicker are to exhaust Roxas. Especially since there are no ethers to find among the city. Meaning he'll have to let himself recharge naturally.

    First Level
    Fire
A single projectile fireball. Its power is generally weak, but it homes in on its target with decent speed and a generous range. Can burn a target.

    Blizzard
A projectile spell similar to fire. Its range and speed are terrible, but it can hit its target multiple times. Can potentially temporarily freeze a target.

    Thunder
A line of bolts that rains from the heavens towards its main target. The line comes quickly and can hit multiple targets on the way, but the spell itself follows a straight line, not homing like fire or blizzard. Can temporary paralyze the target.

    Aero
Acts the same as fire only stronger and with lesser homing abilities.

    Cure
A direct spell that heals all minor scrapes and bruises and partly heals medium-deep cuts of one target. Instantaneous. *Note that cure does not rid of hunger or thirst.

    Second Level
    Fira
This spell grants a higher amount of power than the previous fire spell, capable of hitting multiple enemies at a considerate speed. However, unlike Fire, it can only go in a straight line. Can burn a target.

    Blizzara
While still slow and with a short range like the prior spell, this one gives off a small explosion instead when it hits its target, causing both it and whatever other enemies around it considerable damage. Can temporarily freeze a target.

    Thundara
Bolts of lightning rain down, hitting randomly around the caster. On the upside, the spell can hit multiple targets at once to cause some decent damage. On the downside, the lack of control can cause the spell to hit allies as well as enemies. Can temporarily paralyze a target.

    Aerora
A single projectile wind elemental spell that shoots out in a zig-zag pattern. Targets hit can be blown into the air.

    Cura
Acts like Regen from Final Fantasy. Whoever he has cast it upon will heal gradually. Lasts five tag rounds.

    Third Level
    Firaga
Shoots up in the air before homing in on its target with considerable speed and moderate damage. Upon impact, it will explode on its target. Can burn a target.

    Blizzaga
Unlike its previous forms, this spell can be planted like a mine. Targets that come within range of it are in it when it explodes just like one, too, for moderate damage. Once planted though, it can't be removed and allies may be hit by it instead if they aren't careful. Can potentially freeze a target temporarily.

    Thundaga
A larger, more powerful bolt that hits its target not once but twice. The second time causing some area of effect.

    Aeroga
A whirlwind surrounds the caster, pulling targets towards them. Those in close range suffer extra damage from the spell's effect alone on top of whatever damage they might be on the receiving end of, melee-wise.

    Curaga
A small recovery area is created. Those inside it will heal quickly. Lasts up to three tag rounds unless Roxas himself extends it by remaining there.

Roxas is also capable of using Dark Corridors. These are portals that take root in darkness and harness a shortcut through an alternate plane to cut through the distance in seconds whether it be between one side of a city to another or one world to another. Of course, Roxas must first have a visual of the place he needs to portal to before he can go there himself (or so head canon dictates), but once he has been to a place, he need only envision it and open a corridor to traverse there. While he won't be able to move between worlds in Aprigen, these will become a useful aid for moving around in the city itself.

Faction:
Leviathan
Throughout Roxas' Organization days, he constantly seeks to know and understand. Otherwise, he is wrought with confusion and frustration. He has to be in the know. Too much has been kept from him in the past and while he won't remember that, it's a core part of him yet. Of course, matters are a little different when it comes to his time in the Twilight Town simulation. While he does want to know, at the same time, he finds himself caught between things. He wants to understand, but he wants to hold onto his normalcy. Overall, he commonly is holding to several of the given emotions.

Miscellaneous: n/a

Occupation: Not sure at this point. Will see how things go in the game?
Weapon/Esper:

Keyblade (x2)
A weapon that chooses its wielder. Capable of sealing worlds and freeing hearts.

The keyblade is exactly what it sounds like. An over-sized key-shaped weapon created out of a particularly strong material (although what exactly has never really been indicated) that is unbreakable. At least as far as it's been shown. While the base appearance holds to a standard looking key, with the addition of a keychain (often found or created through synthesis), its appearance can change vastly, the weapon itself growing in power as well. Even at its standard form though, it's large enough both to serve well in packing a lot of punch as well as taking a beating instead of its wielder. The pummel is perfect for blocking attacks since it's ridiculously wide although he's more likely to use the blade itself to defend himself.

Because it's naturally attune to magic as well, he can channel stronger spells of various varieties through it. The keyblade's most intense strength as far as magic goes is its own light induced properties, giving him a strong combination of wide area of effect attacks (see "Event Horizon") at the cost of quickly exhausting him due to the lacking ethers and the world's own inhibitions on him.

Also to be noted is that the keyblade acts basically like a skeleton key. Most things with lock-holes can be either locked or unlocked with it unless there is a magic that counteracts the attempt. It is still arguable whether her own can or can't seal worlds, but considering there are no worlds to do that with in Aprigen, it's a moot point.

Oathkeeper and Oblivion are Roxas' main keyblades that he will be using in time.

Sylph

Being Sora's Nobody, the air element comes to mind. This is due to the meaning of Sora's name: sky. It's something that befits Roxas, too. His moods tend to hold a calmness one moment and then he's changing like the weather and shouting the next. He carries if not his heart than his thoughts on his sleeve, as noted before. There's just a wistfulness to him of various, abrupt shades although he can admittedly be seen as generally the more mellow of the two in his calm state.

First Person:

[Action]

Hayner! Pence! Olette! [ He found himself calling their names before he even really knew it as he ran through the streets. Part of him apprehended himself for shouting. What if he attracted some unwanted attention? But a larger part of him simply didn't care, simply was far too focused on returning to the way things were. Back to talking their ears off at the Usual Spot and snacking on sea-salt ice cream up on the clock tower ledge. When things were normal- and it hadn't been that long ago since then. He knew that and yet it already felt so far away. It wasn't like those weird happenings that would occur and then he would be back to his normal routine. Or if this was one of those weird daydreams, it was sure taking its time to end. The problem was that underneath his determination, a sense of panic was rising. He didn't recognize these streets or its denizens. The air didn't even feel right or the smell. Everything was foreign. It wasn't like he was still in Twilight Town. Wherever he was... it wasn't home. ]

[Later that day... Audio]

[ His voice came off hesitant yet thoughtful. Uncertain yet insistent. ] I don't really get what's going on... or how I got here. [ The last thing he remembered was that pink door and everything, but feh. That sounded so crazy, and he really didn't want to get himself under the weirdness radar with someone. Not after how his friends reacted. Still, continuing with a tone of determination. ] If anyone could fill me in, that'd be great. [ There was a long pause- but just as he seemed finished, he spoke up again. ] And has anyone seen Hayner, Pence, or Olette? They're my age. And... Hayner wears those camo shorts. Pence always has that head band on- oh, and that dog on his jersey! And Olette, she has this big white flower on her shirt. If you have, just... let me know. Thanks.

Third Person:

He knew he shouldn't have followed that glowing creature. But those guys in the white suits had been chasing him and whatever it was seemed to have been guiding him at the time. Well, now he was eying the only way he assumed was out of the mess he was in with great scrutiny, standing in front of a strange door of sorts. One that was almost beckoning to him. Cautiously, he looked to it. Uncertain and feeling an alien sort of presence. But his curiosity got the better of him. Maybe this door would lead him to answers. Maybe then he would find out why all these weird things were happening to him at his own home. And it was definitely better than getting caught by those guys. Or so he thought. So, carefully, his hand that had been lingering in the air finally grasped the door knob and turned it. Pushing it open lightly, the door creaked and he took a step.

The first thing he felt was that sensation of falling. It made his body tense up and his breath cut short as he braced for the landing. And just as he hit with a soft 'plop', his eyes flew open. He breathed hard, body short of that much needed air, only to cough away the flurry of feathers he had attracted. Shaken and exhausted. It took him a while to catch a grip on reality- of a dream, no less. Only now he saw nothing but a long hallway stretched before him off to the one side. Clambering to his feet, he patted away the bizarre feathers and shook his head rapidly before he started with unsteady steps down the walkway. Eventually, the hall ended at an open doorway. He stood there at the threshold but only for a few seconds' time before entering.

The slam behind him could be felt reverberating through him and he spun around quick to see the door had shut. "What?" Whether it was due to someone or if it had done it by itself remained a mystery, but the concept that he was now stuck in a room wasn't exactly something he would easily accept. Quickly, he tried the doorknob. Then the next one's. And the next. Making a quick once over... and then a second time. But this time was accompanied by the pounding of fists, the slamming of elbows and shoulders against wood, and a good kick here and there. Still, nothing let up and before he knew it, Roxas was leaning over on his knees and taking labored breaths. "Great." He muttered it to himself, shaking his head. Then rising to his full height once more, he paused.

"Huh? That wasn't there before..." In a matter of cautious strides, he approached the table that had seemed to materialize out of no where. The most noticeable thing as he approached was the laptop, but as he came closer, he could see a phone, too. He found himself standing before said computer soon enough, staring at it at first. Admittedly, he had never been one to delve too much into them. Just not a choice interest. But figuring this was a way out perhaps- because he was in a weird dream space anyway or so he was trying to convince himself- Roxas did what any normal technologically incompetent person would do. Hit random buttons on the keyboard until it decided to respond. A bit of button mashing in and a message popped up.

"Hit the 'enter' key..." Well. Simple enough. It had to be somewhere... It took a little bit of browsing, but finally, "Ah-ha, there!" He smiled victoriously at least a little to himself as he pushed the key. Instantly, the original text vanished and a new set appeared. "'What's your name'....?" Simple enough question to answer. What was the point of this, he had to wonder, as his hands idly wandered the stretch of keys. 'R'... 'O'... There, bottom left. 'X'.... 'A-S'. Right beside each other. Now how to key it in... Maybe if he hit enter again...

And bingo, screen cleared! "Well, that was easy... Huh?"

He scrutinized the screen a while longer with a raised eyebrow, but it noted nothing else- even when he hit a few keys. Shrugging to himself, his hand idled over to the phone and stuffed it in his pocket almost instinctively as he looked around the vicinity again. And lo and behold, there was a bizarre, pink door. Surely... nothing out of the ordinary, right? At least in a dream. And with it seeming to be the only way out anyway, he chanced to venture forth and see what else he could figure out about this place. So after thoughtlessly shutting the laptop and tucking it under his arm, he made for the door. There was a more vexed step to his gait. Usually, he would have been confronted by something more than a few typed messages by then. Before, it had been those guys in the white suits. And the once he had ran into that strange girl. Not having any sort of contact with someone face to face was odd. In fact, he was starting to feel warier and warier step by step. Almost like he shouldn't go.

Yet before he take that second guessing up in action, he had found his hand on the doorknob- and soon springing back as he shouted. His hands clamped down on the back of his neck as it burned viciously. He blinked back the tears that brimmed his eyes from the pain alone as he groaned. But just as quickly as it had come, the stinging sensation subsided and he was left to rub it soothingly, wincing here and then again as the door creaked open and a brighter, more natural light filtered into sight. He took a step forward to test the waters when he heard a beep in his pocket. And gathering his wits, he shuffled a hand inside, collecting the cell phone and flipping it open. Studying the message, he scoffed and shook his head.

"This is just too weird... And why would I need to go by this when I already go by something else?"

But why then, as he considered that. Why didn't he...? And suddenly, things seemed to have gotten a lot more complicated.
